TRENTON (Feb. 21, 2025) – What’s better: Watching your team win the Super Bowl or winning the Jersey Cash 5? Well, for some let’s just say, “fly Eagles, fly.” Philadelphia fans are indeed unique.

“This is good. Winning the Super Bowl is great,” said one of the February 16 Jersey Cash 5 winners while collecting their half of the $635,194 jackpot. Not surprisingly, the South Jersey winner, who bought the winning ticket at Wawa #915, 257 Route 70 in Burlington County’s Medford township, was bedecked in a green Eagles sweatshirt and a black Eagles winter jacket and still celebrating the Eagles’ recent Super Bowl romp over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“It’s a lot to take in. I still can’t believe this is true,” the winner said this week—presumably talking about the Jersey Cash 5 win and not the Eagles’ performance.

A day later, the other jackpot winner from the February 16 drawing came to the Lottery office from Giants and Jets territory in Bergen County. Like the South Jersey winner, the North Jersey player also used a selection of birthday themed numbers from family members for the winning combination. However, they were less interested in Super Bowl talk.

"I always check the app in the morning, I woke up like usual and couldn't believe it,” said the Bergen County player, who drew the ticket at Manor Sweet Shoppe, 112 Jackson Ave., Rutherford.

The winner’s spouse was still asleep. “I went back upstairs to wake them up. They were pacing for the rest of the day.”

Earlier this month, while a snowstorm blanketed New Jersey, a Bergen County Lottery player got to shovel some cold, hard cash.

Distracted by the storm, the winner did not check the February 5 ticket until seeing a news report that someone in Bergen County won the $1,065,447 jackpot.

“I didn’t check my numbers because of the snow storm. But I saw that somebody in Bergen County won,” the winner last week said when claiming the prize just ahead of yet another winter storm. “Then I saw where it was played. I went to my car and got the ticket,” said the winner, who had purchased the ticket at Fairlawn News. “I still thought—they sell a lot of tickets, so they odds still weren’t great for me.”

The winner reflected on years spent playing, saying, “I’ve spent a few bucks over the years, and I asked myself ‘why am I doing this?’”

Well, the reason is that the winner was able to get out of town ahead of the weather to enjoy time in a “warm, sunny place.”

No shoveling needed.
