New Jersey Lottery Prepares
For Mega Millions Game Changes
Advance sales have smaller window ahead of revised game launch April 5
(TRENTON, N.J., March 11) – The New Jersey Lottery will begin the process today of limiting advance play Mega Millions tickets in preparation for the April 5 game re-launch. Today will be the last day New Jersey players can buy plays up to the maximum of eight future drawings, which will be through Friday, April 4.
After today’s drawing, each subsequent drawing will allow one fewer advance purchase through April 4.
Starting Saturday, April 5, tickets for the following Tuesday will cost $5 per play, an increase from the current $2 per play. At that point, the option to purchase the maximum of eight future drawings will resume in full. Additionally, among several features, the revised game will offer faster-growing and bigger jackpots.
