TRENTON (May 1, 2026) – How do you select your Powerball numbers? Do you have some lucky numbers? Do you use the birth dates of family? Or do you just select 5 numbers in a row on the Powerball play slip? The players who select numbers in a row had a great night. Two tickets sold in Kansas and Indiana split Wednesday night’s $143.4 million Powerball jackpot, but New Jersey tried to share some of the spotlight and had a New Jersey-record 18 second-tier winners – four tickets winning $2 million and 14 winning $1 million.

The winning numbers were 03, 19, 35, 51, and 67. The Powerball was 15, and the multiplier was 02. The cash value of the jackpot prize is $65.2 million.

According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which operates Powerball, 91 players nationwide won $1 million or more in this drawing. The unusually high number of winners appears to have resulted from many players selecting their numbers from a single vertical column on their play slips, a pattern that exists across multiple state lottery play slips. A copy of a New Jersey Lottery Powerball play slip is included with this release for reference.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million. The odds of matching 5 of 69 white balls without also matching the Powerball are approximately 1 in 11 million, the same as drawing 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05. In 2025, the New Jersey Lottery had 13 second-tier Powerball winners, but this year we only had one before Wednesday’s drawing.

Besides the jackpot and prizes in New Jersey, there were second tier winners in the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, the Double Play drawing is a separate event for players who opted in for the Double Play feature on their Powerball tickets. No player won the top prize, which is $10 million. The Double Play drawing’s numbers were 07, 52, 56, 67 and 69; the Double Play ball was 03.

The four New Jersey Lottery tickets that played their tickets with Power Play doubled their $1,000,000 prizes to $2,000,000. Those tickets were sold in Atlantic, Bergen, Camden, and Hudson Counties. For the full list of winning ticket locations, see below:
