FRIEND'S ALERT LEADS TO BIG BUCKS
TRENTON (April 25, 2019) – Christine Rossi of Woolwich Twp. is a regular lottery player who plays all types of New Jersey Lottery games. When Christine plays the Powerball game, she always uses Quick Pick to select the numbers.
After the Powerball drawing on March 20th, her friend called with an alert that “someone from our retailer had just won a $1 million prize.” Christine didn’t think anything of it that night, but the next day she proceeded to check her tickets and there, to her surprise, was that winning ticket worth $1 million.
Christine immediately called her husband and told him the good news. He did not believe her at first because she had misread a ticket once before and erroneously thought it was a winning ticket, but it actually was not. Christine explained that this time she had scanned the ticket and it definitely was a $1 million winner. They were both in shock and disbelief!
Christine signed the back of the ticket and put it in a safety box until she was able to come to Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville to claim her winnings. Christina told Lottery officials that she plans to buy a new car, make some home improvements, and invest the rest of the money.
The winning ticket was sold at Shoprite of West Deptford, 1077 Mantua Pike, West Deptford in Gloucester County.
