New Jersey Lottery Sells Only Winning
$221 Million Powerball Ticket
New Jersey Players are Winning Big in 2024!
TRENTON (June 11, 2024) – New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey announced that the only Powerball jackpot winning ticket from the Monday, June 10, drawing was sold in New Jersey, winning the $221 million advertised jackpot prize. The estimated cash value is $104,700,000. This is the second largest jackpot won in New Jersey in 2024, behind the March 26, $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot.
The winning ticket was sold at Preet Food Mart, 598 Chews Landing Road, Lindenwold in Camden County. That retailer will receive a $30,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
“It is thrilling to be able to congratulate another life changing winner this year in New Jersey! Fortune has smiled upon our players and this prize now becomes the tenth largest jackpot ever won in the state, and the biggest in South Jersey since 2013! We encourage the jackpot winner to immediately sign the back of the ticket, make a copy of both sides and put it in a safe place. The Lottery has a Winner’s Guide on our website at NJLottery.com and we encourage the winner to read it before reaching out to Lottery officials at 1-800-222-0996 to file a claim for this significant jackpot prize,” Carey said.
The winning numbers for the Monday, June 10, drawing were: 03, 10, 33, 58 and 59. The Red Power Ball number was 09. The Power Play number was 02. There were also 19,768 New Jersey players who took home an estimated $106,447 in prizes ranging from $4 to $200.
The Double Play drawing is an additional drawing for players who opted-in to the Double Play feature on their tickets. The Double Play drawing results for the Monday, June 10, drawing were: 09, 15, 27, 32 and 65. The Double Play Ball number was 10.
New Jersey is not a stranger to large jackpots. The largest Powerball jackpot won by a single player in New Jersey is from May 2016 with an annuity value of $429.9 million. On Tuesday, March 26, the New Jersey Lottery sold the only winning ticket for the Mega Millions jackpot of $1.13 billion. That winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize.
A New Jersey law allows lottery winners to remain anonymous indefinitely, and the identity of winners will not be included in materials available to public inspection under the State’s Open Public Records Act. Players claiming Lottery prizes worth $600.00 or more must still provide their identity to Lottery officials in order to claim a prize. The New Jersey Lottery is still required by law to withhold state and federal taxes from certain prizes awarded. The New Jersey Lottery also shares the identity of winners with other State agencies, and claims are reviewed for collection of unpaid obligations such as child support, student loan arrearages, and back taxes.
This is the fourth time the Powerball jackpot has been won in 2024. It was hit 5 times in 2023. The last Powerball jackpot was won on May 6, for $214 million annuity ($100.1 million cash) and was won by a player in Florida.
The jackpot resets to $20 million for the next drawing to be held on Wednesday, June 12, at 11:00 pm. All New Jersey Lottery Powerball tickets must be purchased before 9:59 pm to participate in the drawing. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Powerball drawings are also live streamed on Powerball.com.
Powerball tickets cost just two dollars; by adding the Power Play option for an extra dollar per play, players can increase their non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or sometimes 10 times the original amount (excluding the Grand and Match 5+0 Bonus prizes).
Players are reminded that Lottery games are for fun and entertainment – it only takes one ticket to get in the game.
