When Life Is But a Dream
Union County Jersey Cash 5 Player Acted on a Dream and Won Big
TRENTON (March 18, 2025) – During the seemingly interminable winter, most New Jersey residents were likely dreaming of spring, a season that signifies change for the better in the Garden State.
Signs of a change in seasons can take on a dream-like quality: visions of the state flower—the common blue violet—beginning to bloom, alternatively residents seeking allergy medicines at the local pharmacy to ward off pollen. Likewise, the Lottery signifies a dreamy change, albeit something that is significantly different.
“I’ve always been told that if I’ve had a dream, and if it’s a good dream, I should play," said the Union County player while collecting their $1.5 million Jersey Cash 5 Jackpot won on Feb. 26.
The win, which came from a ticket purchased at the EZ Check Food Store in Rahway, was the 11th of the year’s 13 Jersey Cash 5 jackpots, and the third to top $1 million. This year’s pace so far matches 2024’s, when there were 75 winners and 13 topping $1 million.
“This one, I can’t even explain. I didn’t even pick my numbers,” the player said, reflecting on the quick-pick selection of 14, 20, 29, 30 and 45.
The winner doesn’t have any immediate plans, but knows the win couldn’t have come at a better time.
“It’s so crazy. Let me tell you: God answers your prayers,” said the player, who lost their job in November. “I’ve been job hunting. Of course this money will be spent wisely.”
